Swearing-In

Today, I am officially a Peace Corps Volunteer, and i start my 2 year service here .. woohoo! I made it! In there ceremony today, the U.S. Ambassador was there, and a few other Guinean officials. The ambassador gave an amazing speech telling about how as a child, he lived in Africa and grew up around PC volunteers, and how he has learned so much from volunteers over the years. He also quoted Obama's inagural speech about choosing hope over fear. Then, we gave four speeches.. one in each of the local languages and French. Two hours later.. I am a volunteer :)

  1. Hey, that is so cool that your teaching math. With the AmeriCorps I am actually working at the Chester County Government Services Center in West Chester, So im still living at home : ( But the plus is that I still get to frequently visit Victory :) Im coordinating a program called Homeless Prevention and Rapid-Rehousing and it will focus on families struggling to obtain stability due to the economic downturn. It sounds boring but is actually a great oppurtunity for me and through it I have been volunteering at the shelters in the county and I am joing the Big Brothers program. I am still jealous that you are in Africa though, you are going to have to teach me one of their dances when you get back, maybe at Victory : )
